Adopting a dog

Hi everyone
Welcome to the forum.My name is Karen and I am the owner of PAWS-itively Obedient.
I have recently adopted a 11 month old male Golden Retriever on March 7,2009.
His new name is CABO after my favorite vacation in Mexico.
He took quite well to his name within 2 weeks.
This is my first full bred Golden. His favorite past time is getting groomed and petted. His aim in life is to be next to you and to be petted. He has a sweet gentle disposition.
His worst behavior is jumping. We are working on sit for petting but he gets so excited after his initial hello he wants to jump again. Staying calm and delaying petting helps him stay with four on the floor.Redirecting his attention away from the person by tossing a toy helps keep him from jumping.
Patience with Cabo is key as he is just being his young puppy self.
